I was baptized in Prescott in 1961. I was 15. I lived there for about a year. I was friends with Frank Reed, knew Bud Dotson, Jack Walker, Schenkles, Fred somebody, etc. Another Friend, Tom Vodopich was an elder there for some years. Any of these names ring a bell? Brant Jones
i was curious if anyone knew how to listen to talks like sinutkos stay alive to 75, or fred franz talk about how there was no 1st century gb.. i can listen to them on youtube but they are on obviously apostate youtube channels.
i would like for my wife to hear them but cant do that on apostate youtube channels.. does anyone know if these talks are available in an online archive somewhere else?.
Your topic just stirred another memory.

i was reading brant jones' experience (published on jwfacts.com).
i read both letters: the one he wrote to the gb and the one he recieved from them.

The WT condemned the UN since it's inception in 1945, and they continued to condemn it in the harshest ways throughout my early years as a Witness.
They also condemned as apostate religions that were NGOs as late as 1989, probably during the time they were working on their own application.
i think the reaction that I had was exacerbated by the fact that I passed up a Coast Guard Academy education (I had the official appointment) in 1964 and then also because of the WT stance (then) on neutrality I ended up in prison for two years. Neutrality was required of me, but not them. I am sure that my life's path was made much more difficult because of my sacrificial stand on neutrality, while the organization that REQUIRED my neutrality felt very free to violate their own teaching under the guise of needing a library card. What a lie.
what proves it a lie is that they did this and continue to do it in the dark. If it was such a good thing, why not let some light shine in?
Thanks for reading,

my memory of singing the kingdom songs go back to when i was a child in the 1950's.
they still hold a place in my memory and my heart.
how can something that is so much a part of your childhood not stay embedded in your heart.?.
Robcrompton,
that was titled "dedication" in the green songbook. I thought it was beautiful and felt terrible when it was removed.
thanks for the historical update. What a bunch of lying weasels the wt is.

There was one line, "take my moments and my days, may they bring your constant praise.
take my feet and take my hands, may they serve your wise commands
i might add, that this was the song at every assembly following the baptism talk until it was dropped from the songbook.
after being on a waiting list for three and a half years i've finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel and am going under the knife for a gastric sleeve operation in march.
i can't tell you how pumped i am because i'll finally be able to re-take my life after being severely overweight for several years.
i gained a ton of weight after being put on meds for bipolar disorder and it made exercising a painful chore.
Marmot,
I had lap band surgery in 2009. Prior to my surgery I had hit close to 270. I am currently up and down from 210 but my goal is still about 190-195.
i would happily do it all over again, possibly though instead of the lap band, would seriously consider gastric sleeve. My understanding is that the sleeve is a little more difficult to deal with, but the weight loss is better. I know a couple of people that have had it and they are also very happy to have had it done.
the full gastric bypass may have some advantages for you....it also has more dangers, but the advantage to full bypass is that you immediately lose type II diabetes---immediately.
however, I admire whatever you do. You will love yourself for doing this! At least I did. Feel really good, not so many aches and pains and 60 pounds lighter. Look fairly good too for an old coot.
pm me if you need further encouragement.

i have recently revived my interest in the night sky.
there are a lot of great sights you can identify with just a pair of binoculars.
i am currently relearning how to navigate my way round all the constellations and find some of the best objects.. i live out in the country so we get almost total darkness right outside my front door.
I started with a Meade 4.5", then went to a heavier 8" Meade, then finally got a 10" Meade that is computerized.
please don't fall for the same trick that I did. Bigger is not necessarily better. It's too heavy to use, so I quit amateur astronomy because it is too big and clumsy. A big scope should be on a permanent mount.
my most enjoyable viewing is of the milky way---with binoculars. I would trade my 10" for a real good pair of binoculars. Any takers.
brant in New Mexico. Skies are ok here but too close to ABQ for dark skies.
Just ghost like spots on the film
did you have any favourite books by the society when you were in ?not that this book was my fav.
yet it was the first book i read learning about jw`s.
" from paradise lost to paradise regained " i know , it was designed for the young , however my mentor thought that since i had no understaning of the bible it was what i needed.
My favorites in order:
life everlasting in freedom for the sons of god
Jehovah's witnesses in the Divine purpose
things on which it is impossible for god to lie
truth book
your will be done on earth
let your name be sanctified
i have to say that after these books, other than the aid to bible understanding, none of the publications ever impressed me. I thought they were trite not based on sound reasoning, and not faith strengthening.
the JW religion of the 60's and 70's was a totally different religion than it is now. It was bad then, and I was stupid for believing it, but now it is unbelievably shallow and insane.

the truth about messiah and what he acheived in the 1st century is something millions of believers in christ refuse to accept namely the historical record of things all fulfilled in that momentous 1st century.it is rejected because the -isms, man made doctrines, theologies, false teachings etc etc that abound since then and so millions have allowed themselves to be brainwashed, conditioned into.
the reality is so simple if one lets messiah remain with his intent and meaning.
but if we change his own words, we become divided.
I have come to deny "Jesus in Kingdom Power" because of the ineffectual ness of his Kingdom Rule over the past 100 years.--------
NOW you are telling us he has been at it for 2000 years.
Open your eyes. Is this world really under the Kingship of a benevolent Messiah?
Pass the Koop-aid.
